The War's End
The Great Ring surrounds the Onyx Territories, a towering wall of floating stones that reach from the ocean depths to clouds floating overhead. One day long ago, stone horrors arose from the seas climbing up the coasts. The Sgianan dwarves took to the shores, setting up outposts barracks. Hammers clashed with stone. The fight against the horrors waged on year after year. Generations passed, shorelines eradicated of life, and the people of Onyx moved inland.
Travel shifted from the oceans to the skies as the seas were deemed unfit. After the Refuge City of Faoi was constructed, the first Skyships were constructed, and they took their first flights. The Dragonborn worked hard to bring magic battlements to the shorefront, and many others followed in their wake. Scale and iron fended off beasts of stone. Dust and blood lie in the wake of the fallen. Empires collapsed, civilizations arose, and war churned forward until the creatures the Dragonborn deemed the Karpa suddenly disappeared.

No more clang of steel on stone. No more screams of war. Only the sound of crashing waves over broken barricades. The Dragonborn forges quieted. The sweat on the warrior's brows waned. They kept watch just in case, waiting in silence.
Three years have passed since that day. The ephemeral races felt they had nothing to fear and started rebuilding their societies along the coasts. The enduring races remain in their well-protected lands of the mountains. They still send supplies to the many outposts protecting their coasts as they continue to watch silently.
The Onyx Territories
There exist four major land masses. The continent of Sardonyx is home to the beetles of Fasra, the warriors of Sgian, the arcane of the Reach, and the mountain city of Anadl, home of the elves. Just off the southern coast of Sardonyx lies an active volcano at the heart of the Black Isle. On this Island, you can find the Shattered city of Glas.
Niccolo, which lies to the east, is home to the underground halls of Faoi, the docks of Jura, and the Deep Forest to the south. The remaining lands are occupied by the floating country of Zenit and the ruins of Cornelian island.
The Sardonyx Conclave is a collective created to keep peace in the territories. Some have questioned the need for such a union since the war ended. Zenith took to the skies soon after horror met sand and never held a council seat. Some believe Zenith brought about the ocean's fury when they hunted the remaining crystal dragons to raise their beloved nation.

Since the beginning of time, the Ring has been. Of those who have attempted to approach it, only some have survived the return journey. They come back babbling and rambling. Some returners talk of beings moving upon the Ring, but that is where their coherency ceases.
Many expeditions have been sent to better understand the Ring and what lies beyond it. Those who cross its threshold are never to be seen again.
