The Mysteries of Rúne - The Guilds
The Guilds
Each principal city is overseen by a guild collective, a quasi-administrative entity operating beneath the surface of the city-state. These guilds collaborate within the Consortium to procure and safeguard relics and knowledge dating from prior to the Great War. Throughout the conflict, many details have been lost to time or have been hoarded by the powers of the Sardonyx Conclave. The guilds are dedicated to the preservation of history, each focusing on its respective domain. They convene regularly at remote venues to evade scrying or other security threats. The respective branches of the Consortium are described in detail below.

Botanists’
Botanist's Guild recruits researchers and explorers to venture deep into the forest, seeking out rare and exotic plants that are said to possess unique magical properties.
Their first leader, the Green Sage, accidentally awoke a massive oak tree named "Oldenwood." Oldenwood lives on and now serves as a protector and guardian of the Botanist's Guild. Using its immense strength and magical abilities to defend guild members from those who would seek to do them harm.
Brewers’
The Brewers' Guild in Sgian may be known for their brewing skills, but their true purpose is to explore the art of potion making. Guild members, once they have finished their training, gain the title "mélange." They delve deep into the ancient archives and libraries of Sgian, mining the rich history of their people.
The Brewer's Guild also seeks to uncover the history of the mountain under the foundations of Sgian, delving into the ancient records and its many subterranean ingredients.
Fishermans’
The Fisherman's Guild embarks on daring expeditions to unravel the mysteries of the deep sea. They are known for their exceptional skills in navigating the treacherous waters around Jura and their deep understanding of marine life and the sea's ecosystem. They use their knowledge of fishing techniques, navigation, and underwater exploration.
The Fisherman's Guild is known for its covert operations and espionage. They are an integral part of Jura's culture, and their people eagerly await the next expedition.
Librarians’
The Observatory District houses the Librarian's Guild of Faoi. The guild dedicates itself to preserving and protecting historical artifacts and knowledge, with members among the most skilled and experienced adventurers in all of Faoi. They have a distinct rivalry with the Postman’s Guild.
The Athenaeum Library (Ath-i-na-um) is housed within the Observatory district and is open to the public to a degree, with sectors needing special permits. This library features many floating bookshelves and vast vertical hallways housing books from all nations. All things from across the Onyx territories lie within the Athenaeum. Their shelves hold mostly newer writings, as most disappeared during the 500-year war.
Masons’
The Masons' Guild in Glas houses artisans skilled in construction and stonework. Their members are deeply passionate about the mysteries of the volcano and unearthing its many materials. They train in meticulous attention to detail, expertise in working with stone, and a keen sense of curiosity.
The many guild members tend to work in isolation, which is reflected in the Obsidian Guild Hall located deep within the volcano’s heart, accessed through a network of hidden tunnels and passages known only to the guild members. Obsidian Hall is a chamber carved out of solid obsidian, with walls that glisten with a dark, glass-like sheen.
Postmans’
While they handle the Pseudodragon post, they are also keepers of ancient knowledge and history. Under the guise of a postman's guild, they seek to uncover and preserve information through various means. The guild dedicates time to deciphering inscriptions found on ancient artifacts. They study the intricate markings of their ancestors, which may hold clues to the forgotten past.
They seek out elderly Elves and other inhabitants of Anadl who hold oral histories passed down through generations. They listen to their stories and preserve them for posterity, ensuring the city's rich oral traditions are not lost.
Troubadours’
The Troubadour's Guild in The Reach is not your typical adventurer’s guild. They are known for their artistic talents and love for the performing arts, particularly music, dance, and storytelling. Guild members travel far and wide, seeking out lost arts and ancient relics. They use their talents to connect with the people they encounter on their journey, gleaning information.
They may perform in taverns, at gatherings, or even in the courts of nobles, using their artistic abilities to trade information. One can find almost any secret for a price.
