The Mysteries of Rúne - The Reach

The Reach is a city built on a foundation of arcane power, with towering structures that harness the energy of the elements to create stunning displays of art and architecture.

At the heart of The Reach lies the Grand Arc, a massive structure that serves as both the center of magical research and the hub of the city's artistic community. Here, mages and artificers work side by side to create new forms of art. The streets of The Reach are a wonder to behold, with glowing pathways that pulse with energy and walls adorned with shimmering runes.

Traveling through the city feels like walking through a constantly shifting art gallery, but infrastructure is neglected in its stead, rampant with filth and rust from rapid growth with little upkeep. Many sections of the city have been abandoned for the newest corners and the forgotten art pieces and rust have many layers of crusted paint.

The Reach is not without its dangers. The city attracts its fair share of unsavory characters, including rogue mages and pirates who seek to use the city's magical power for their gain.

Beneath the surface lies a dangerous crime syndicate. This organization controls much of the illegal activity in the city, from smuggling to extortion. Not much is public about this organization other than the fear of something called the Under.

The Reach was crafted from metal and gemstones by their gnomish forefathers. The surrounding plains consist of the eastern fertile soil, abundant natural resources that allow their communities to thrive, and the vast desert to the west. Core values of innovation, creativity, and the pursuit of knowledge have formed their way of life.

Recently there has been a note by the locals of a strange purple ichor that seems to leak from various parts of the city. The river Dorcha gives off a faint purple glow on the darkest of nights.

- Locations -

The Black Spire is a towering obsidian spire shrouded in mystery and dark magic. Some say it is a portal, while others believe it is a prison for unspeakable horrors. According to legend, something ancient and powerful lies at the top of the spire, drawing adventurers and scholars from far and wide.

One of the leaking structures is the Stonewatch Factory located in the Depths of the city. Gnomish artificers work around the clock to maintain the city guards and set about the creation of new waves of technology.

Within the Outskirt of Red Spring lies the Éadrom Tree. This constantly shifting and twisting growth is a symbol of the god Níos and at its base lies a shrine to chaos itself. There is usually an ever-changing keeper of the tree. This role is prized among the followers of Níos, but one can only hold the position for a month straight before it must be passed on.

The city of Sgian lies upriver, and the Valley Gate marks the halfway point between the two cities. A pair of massive gates predating both cities guard the entrance to a narrow gorge.
