The Mysteries of Rúne - Skybound
Sky Travel
Sky ships are highly prized possessions, many passed through generations. At their core is an immovable rod that functions as an anchor imbued with levitation properties through a process lost to history. They vary from large luxurious vessels to small agile crafts. Their few passengers enjoy breathtaking views of the landscape and cities below as they soar above the clouds.

Air travel is not without its dangers. There is normal concern for natural phenomena, but the true danger of these relics is how widely misunderstood they are. Most ships at this point are patchworked together and have regular malfunctions.
The most common ships are the Air Galleons which reflect their sea fairing counterparts. Others, like the Sky Skiffs, are small and fast, perfect for evading pirates and other dangers. Certain skies hold powerful magical energies that can interfere with navigation and cause strange phenomena like sudden shifts in space and time.
Skyships
Air Galleons are massive airships resembling old-fashioned sailing vessels with billowing sails and wooden decks. They are used for long-distance travel mainly carrying cargo.
Balúns use hot air to lift them into the sky. They are often used for sightseeing tours and can offer breathtaking views of the city and surrounding landscape.
Carbháns are flying caravans with compartments and cabins to be rented by travelers. They are often used for group travel and can provide a more comfortable and luxurious experience than other airships.
Dragonflies are strange-looking ships that use flapping wings to generate lift and propulsion, much like a bird. Explorers favor their ornithopters for short-distance travel.
Gaoths are heavily armored military vessels for defending from outside threats. These ships require a crew of highly trained soldiers and pilots.
Skiffs are sleek and agile vessels favored by smugglers and pirates for their speed and maneuverability.
